DF for Residents in Dermatology
Dermatology Foundation Honorary Membership
As a resident in dermatology, you are an honorary member of the Dermatology Foundation. As an Honorary Member, consider the benefits the DF offers to you and all of your colleagues in dermatology:
Promotes medical and surgical dermatology as the primary specialty for patients with diseases and conditions of the skin, hair and nails.
Advances dermatology as the specialty's fundraising arm, financing the development of research and teaching careers across the broad spectrum of medical and procedural dermatology.
Provided $5.25 million in research funding in 2008 for projects relating to melanoma, wound-healing, acne, psoriasis, photo-aging, laser therapy, atopic dermatitis and workforce issues. (See the Research Award Programs page.)
Educates the specialty through a quarterly publication, Dermatology Focus and an annual CME program, the DF Clinical Symposia: Advances in Dermatology.
Upon completion of training, plan to become a Post-Resident Member of the DF: $100/year during your first two years post-residency.
Better Skin Care Through Research Presentations
The Better Skin Care Through Research Presentation takes approximately 35 minutes and is given by a representative of the DF. Along with explaining the importance to all dermatologists of a strong research and training base, Better Skin Care Through Research seeks your opinions on current and future trends in medical and procedural dermatology and encourages your personal support of building research and teaching careers throughout dermatology when you begin your career.
Each resident receives a complimentary DF kit and "Better Skin Care Through Research" t-shirt. To join with more than 2,000 residents who have already participated, ask your Program Director or Chief Resident to contact our Development Coordinator at dfgen@dermatologyfoundation.org for full details.
